Welcome to Richard Watson as General Manager


We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Richard Watson who has come on board as General Manager to lead the team at White Umbrella!

Richard has over 16 years experience in the event industry. Most recently he spent 8 years managing a division of Australia’s largest marquee hire company. Richard shares the same values held strongly at White Umbrella where quality of product and high levels of customer service are paramount. When asked where he sees the business going and his vision for the company he says, “I joined White Umbrella because there is no other company delivering such high quality marquees to the wedding, boutique corporate and private event market. My experience has been mostly with very large companies where it is difficult to offer the high level of detail that we can here. I am looking to build a product range with an individual style that will cover all sectors of the industry. I love the fact we are a small business but big enough to care."



Second exciting announcement!!! - NEW FURNITURE RANGE


We are excited to now announce that we will be launching a furniture range in the coming months which will be a distinctive style put together from years of listening to our customers and what you feel is lacking from the current market.

Since 2007 White Umbrella have set their sights of becoming the best marquee hire company in Sydney. We have never boasted being the biggest nor do we want to as we feel this could be to the detriment of our product. We now feel we have the systems and the right people in place to continue to deliver the marquee product that we set out to initially deliver, whilst at the same time introducing a small but high end furniture range to compliment our events.

Recent Events!


Over the cooler months we have been involved in some very interesting events. Most recently we were challenged to build a space alongside the Mirvac sales suite in Glebe to act as an entertainment lounge and presentation area for prospective buyers. Taking into account a change of heights on the site, linkages to bathroom, existing structures and the modern style of the fast developing surrounds, we supplied a 10m x 15m structure with clear roof and our signature polished timber floor that we make shine for every event. Custom ramps and stairs were built by our guru Uli who thrives on anything slightly out of the ordinary. Bellelaide events and partners themed the marquee and The Caterer provided the menu that much of Sydney has come to love over the years.

Weddings at home


With a five week lead time Richard was set the challenge to create a dining and dance space in a magnificent Hunters Hill garden in mid-winter. A narrow lawn, difficult access, a swimming pool and dozens of trees proved another challenge for our team. With all hands (and minds) on deck an incredible layout of pagodas was built to wrap the house and gardens to deliver on a very windy waterfront day, a space that could be enjoyed by 90 seated guests.

Working with venues


A large wedding booking at Bistro Meme Gladesville meant all guests were unable to fit inside the beautiful French restaurant. An adjacent courtyard gave some ray of hope that this show could go on and we made it not only a possibility but to the point where guests did not even notice the change in space as long tables ran between restaurant and marquee. With tight installation and dismantle times our crew were well organised and the results could not have been better for the client and venue alike
